My name is Jonathan Gellman, age 57.  I currently co-own a growing HVAC company, and a real estate/entertainment organization.  In all, I have owned and operated four companies in the Charlotte market.  The first opened for business in 1983.  All highly regarded in the community.

In 2014, I rebranded a 25-year old, $240k/yr. two man HVAC company into a paperless, relationship based organization.  Over the next three years, we grew to $1.5 m/yr. with zero marketing effort. At this time, with my personal skill set and attention span waning, I began looking for a way to either sell equity, the whole company, or something…  We had no succession plan.  After sharing this story and a one page financial with Ashley, he launched into action.  120 days later, we had sold 60% of the equity to a high integrity, talented, hard working capital group.  This was January 2017.  Over the next 12 months, our new partners have reinvented the company again, added $1m in sales and growing, relocated the office, and created an impressive physical and digital footprint.  Ashley found the buyers, put us together, organized the numerous components, and executed the closing.  My personal workload has dropped 80% while the retained equity grows in value.
